Tours and Such

So far this summer I have given a few tours and all the students seem like they are definitely going to be attending APSU. I always like to hear that! Two specific people that come to mind are from very different scenarios, but they were both equally ready to begin their college journey at Austin Peay.

First, there was a non traditional student who visited, she was from right in the Clarskville area, but had never attended APSU (although she had attended institutions around us). She already had her Associate’s Degree, but was looking forward to attending our campus to further her education. This lady told me that she wanted to spend as much time on campus as possible although she was concerned about feeling uncomfortable because she though she’d be older than all the other students. However, it was easy to calm her fears about that because APSU really is a diverse campus, where everyone fits in, and as far as activities go– there’s something for everyone. I explained to her that some of the people I’ve most enjoyed meeting during my time here were non traditional students, like herself.

The other person who comes to mind is a girl from East Tennessee who had just graduated and was wanting to start classes as soon as possible, even before Fall Semester began. She was incredibly excited to be in a new place, meet new people, and begin learning in her desired field. This high school grad couldn’t believe that dance classes can count as credit hours or that classes like kickboxing and belly dancing are offered for FREE at our Foy Fitness Center.

It is really great to see two people so energetic about starting a college carreer and ready to take on new experiences. It’s even better to know that Austin Peay had generated that excitement…..Let’s Go Peay!!!

How cool! That girl sounds like me. Ever since I started my senior year, I knew I wanted to go to APSU and I’ve been dancing with excitement ever since. I can’t wait to start in August!!
